What is
Arasapha?
It is a very popular
Halloween event that has been consistently ranked one of the top
attractions in the United States by, Hauntworld Magazine, CNN.com and
USA Today. If you live in the Philadelphia area then visiting Arasapha
Farms Haunted Hayride and Bates Motel is a fun thing to do during the
month of October. It is located in Glen Mills, PA, approximately 35
minutes from center city Philadelphia, and it is truly a frightening
experience for the whole family. Arasapha is a favorite for my family
and it has become a Halloween tradition visit this attraction each
year. We started out doing it as a family and now my children love to
go with a group of friends.
What Are
The Attractons At Arasapha?
Arasapha has three attractions, a Hayride, Corn Maze and Haunted House
each with it own unique tactics to scare the guests.
Haunted Hayride
The
haunted hayride always seems to be the most popular ride so we always
head right to that line first. The Haunted Hayride is a 20 minute heart
pounding wagon ride through a dark forest area. It is filled with
special effects, terrific stunts, incredible sets, and lots of
monsters. Each of the twelve wagons are equipped with sound; they are
fairly low to the ground, which allows for interaction between the
guests and the actors that creep out of the dark. Once the wagons load
the guest it is a continuous ride. You will find yourself moving though
high action scenes. The use of fire is incredible and it adds to the
excitement. If you are afraid of chain saws be aware at all times during
your journey. This ride is perfect for children and adults. I would
highly recommend that you place children in the center of the wagon
rather than on the sides where a ghoul or zombie could approach them.
Bates Motel
Once
you finished the hayride check out the Bates Motel. The line for this
can get a bit long but be patient it moves pretty quickly. Actors
wander all around the area especially around the outside of the Bates
Motel so be aware of your surrounding. This high action haunted house
is not intended for children under 8 years old. In this classic mansion
you will find traditional style scenes with moving props, special
effects, cool lighting and an awesome sound track. You should never let
your guard down for evil lurks in the dark corners of the house, and the
actors love guest who scream!!!
Corn Maze
Your
last experience of horror while visiting Arasapha is the Corn Maze. You
will journey through tightly packed corn stalks along a path that twists
and turns. At any time, usually when you least expect it, demons and
goblins will appear and disappear within the stalks of corn, rise from
the ground or jump out from dark corners. This along with the terrific
props, great animation and eerie music make this a frightful experience.

What Is The Best Time To Visit Arasapha?
The closer it gets to Halloween
the larger the crowds. I would suggest that you go as early in
October as you can. In fact the first weekend that they are
open the weekend rates are discounted. In addition, I would
recommend that you arrive early to beat the crowds. The
activity begins at dust so get there at least 30 - 40 minutes in
advance. It is much better to wait in line for it to open than
to arrive later and have to deal with the
enormous lines for admission.
The attractions open October 1st.and continue thru October
31st. There could be some week nights that they are closed
in early October so be sure to check the
official website for
details. The times are usually Sunday thru Wednesday
6:30 pm to 9:30 pm EDT and Thursday thru Saturday 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm EDT
