Junior and Senior Prom Tips
and Links

Traditionally, in the
United States
most schools hold a Junior Prom for those finishing 11th grade and a
Senior Prom for those graduating. The Junior Prom is usually held at
the school, which has been decorated by the PTO and parents based on a
theme, and the Senior prom is normally at an outside location like a
private club, hotel or catering hall.
What to
Wear...

These
events, in the past have been semi-formal where the girls traditionally
wear formal gowns or dresses and the boys usually dress in tuxedos) but
lately, some of the Junior Proms are a little less dressy and a suit or
sport coat will suffice. Beat the crowd and go early to purchase the
dress or rent the Tuxedo to find the best selection.

Prom Activities
Prom
activities usually include dinner, dancing, socializing and in some
instances the crowning of the prom King and Queen. Guys and girls
usually coordinate their outfits with the guys bow tie and cummerbund
matching the girl's dress.
Who Buys the Prom Tickets
Prom tickets are sold at school and the price varies based on the
venue. Tickets are usually purchased by boys for the couple, but it is
not unusual for people attending prom as friends to purchase their own
tickets.
Do I Need to Buy Flowers?

It is
customary for the boy to buy flowers for his date. It is important to
get flowers to match the girl's dress. Flowers can range from the
traditional pin-on corsage or one she can wear around her wrist to a
small bouquet of flowers or roses. Girl's customarily buy a matching
boutonniere for their date. It is a pin-on carnation or rose garnished
with baby's breath that is worn on the right lapel. Florist often offer
a package deal if you order the two flowers together.
Flowers
all have a meaning so when purchasing them for the prom why not select
something that represents your relationship.
