Starting
school is always an exciting time for kids. They have had some
time off and they are now looking forward to seeing their friends again,
but it can also cause some anxiety because they are fearful of the
unknown. Therefore it is extremely important for parents to take a proactive
role in assisting their children, to help them to enjoy the new journey that they are about to embark on.
You can start
by taking them shopping to get the items on their school supply list.
In elementary school, most teachers will send a welcome letter to their
students and include a list of school supplies. Often the PTO will
sponsor a school store and it will be open prior to the first day of
school for you to make purchases. In middle school, you will
normally receive a list of school supplies in the mail from the
administration. In high school, they will not know specifically
what notebooks or binders are required until the first day of school.
Each teacher will require something different. Listed below are
generic items that they will need for either home or school during the
year. Make sure all school supplies are labeled.
