Kids Craft -- Snowman Snow Ruler

Measuring the snow is something that
your kids will love to do. Well this is a simple craft for kids to
create a snow ruler. I did it as a holiday workshop project at my
kids school and they loved it!
Items needed:
Wooden paint stick from any paint
supply store or Home Depot.
White paint
Felt scraps -- any color
Yarn
Small pompoms
Squiggle eyes (optional)
Sharpie permanent markers (red, black, orange)
Paint the wooden paint stick white and
let it dry. Starting from the bottom of the stick mark off
(6- 8) 1 inch intervals by drawing a small line and putting the number
1,2,3 etc... next to each line (similar to a ruler). Use a black
sharpie marker to do this.
Now it is time to be
creative:
Make a
top hat out of felt and glue it to the top of the paint stick. Cut
a piece of felt about 9 inches long and 1/2 inch wide (be sure to fringe
the ends) or use a piece of yarn about 11 inches long and tie it right
at the point where the paint stick indents slightly. Note: if you use
yarn tie it into a bow. Between the hat and the scarf make a
face. Be creative -- you can use squiggle eyes or marker for the
eyes, an orange dot from a sharpie marker or an extra-small pompom for
the nose and a red line or dots using a red sharpie marker for the
mouth. Then add 3 or 4 pompoms for buttons below the scarf.
Now you have your snow ruler. All
you need to do is wait for snow and send you littler meteorologist out
to measure it!!!
