Harry Hartman Knoebel started out charging 25 cents to
water and brush the horses for the visitors while they
went swimming and picnicing on his property. He later
added picnic tables and sold snacks and ice cream. It
was from these humble beginnings that Knoebels Amusement
Park and Rustic Resort was born. In
1926, Harry Knoebel added a swimming pool, a
steam-powered carousel,
a couple of simple games and Knoebels Amusement Park’s
first restaurant.
In 1917 Individuals began to
build summer cottages at the Grove even before the pool
and rides. Shortly thereafter, Knoebels began to build
cottages to rent, Today it features over
50 rides and they are continually growing and changing
with rides being added on an annual basis.
