Summer is a great time to spend with family and friends enjoying vacation and warm weather.  Many times you are at a loss as to what to do with the kids to keep them busy.   Why not consider a location that is both fun and educational.  Well here are a few great day trips if you live in the Philadelphia/New York area of the United States.
The Victorian village of Jim Thorpe: features beautiful scenery, quaint shops, great food, rich history, entertainment and phenomenal architecture.
Peddler's Village: Located in the heart of beautiful Bucks County, Pennsylvania, it is an 18th-century style attraction set on 42 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds.  You will find winding brick pathways,  unique specialty shops, wonderful restaurants, and a 66-room luxury inn.
Lost River Canyons has five cavern chambers containing stalacites and stalagmites, as well as the fascinating Lost River.  The caverns are located in Hellertown, PA.
New Hope Located in Bucks County, Pa, New Hope offers antique shops and art galleries, walks along the river, shows or concerts, ferry or carriage rides, historic sites, and of course shopping.
Crystal Cave is located in Kutztown, PA which is in the heart of Pennsylavania Dutch Country.  You will find in its five chambers, fabulous milky white stalactites, stalagmites, pillars and dropstone formations.  In addition, crystals, which give the cave its name, line the walls.
Camelbeach Waterpark: If you love skiing at Camelback in the winter you will love Camelbeach in the summer.  A great getaway for the entire family.  You will find that there is something at this water park for everyone.
Martin Guitar Factory: This tour is rated among America's best factory tours, and if you visit you can actually see how guitars are constructed.  Martin Guitar is located in the town of Nazareth, Pennsylvania.

Macungie Assembly Operations Mack Truck Tour:  Located in Macungie, PA, this company produces the Mack line of vocational and construction trucks, and is open to the public through pre-arranged tours.
Houdini Tour and Magic Show: This is a museum located in Scranton, Pennsylvania and it is devoted to Harry Houdini. The Houdini Museum has been called one of the most unique museums in the world.
The Crayola Factory:  This unique family discovery center is located in downtown Easton, Pa.  It provides children with both educational and creative experiences.
Bushkill Falls:  Often referred to as the "Niagara of Pennsylvania," this series of eight waterfalls is one of the state's most scenic attractions.

Lancaster: Lancaster County has more than 2,500 miles of country roads, farmland, small towns, charming boutiques, museums and galleries.

Ringing Rocks Park: This Bucks County park encompasses 128 acres of forest. The name is derived from a 7 acre field of boulders, in an otherwise wooded area, containing rocks that actually ring when struck lightly with a hammer
Herr's Factory Tour: Take a tour through the highly automated Herr's plant where you watch, behind glass panels, the process of how they make their snack products.

Snow Tubing:  Snow tubing is the latest snow sport that is quickly growing in America. It is something that is suited for people of all ages and it is enjoyed by everyone. Wherever you find a ski resort , you will find that there is a snow tubing park nearby.  Many ski resorts in the Poconos have tube parks right on site.
