The Huntington Beach International
Surf Museum is a state of the art museum
celebrating the history of Surfing and is located
in Huntington
Beach, California.
It is a terrific museum to visit with
the Surfers in your home.
You
will have the ability to view
Surf history from it origins to modern times. This
museum, with its Walk of Fame and Hall of Fame, serves as a honoring spot for the greats of the
Surfing world.
The
Surfers’ Hall of Fame is the first imprint collection of legendary
surfers on the West Coast. Inductees are chosen based on
contribution, dedication, integrity and revolution to the sport of
surfing.
Each Inductee in The Huntington Beach
Surfing Walk of Fame receives a granite stone placed in the sidewalk
extending from the corners of Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street.
Categories include: Surf Pioneer, Surf Champion, Surfing Culture, Local
Hero, Woman of the Year and the Honor Roll.
The exhibits in this museum will enhance your
enjoyment and knowledge of surfing. You will find a section
for Duke Kahanamoku, who is singularly credited with popularizing
surfing world-wide during the 1920s.
There is a collection of surf music that includes posters, gold records,
guitars and more. A scaled model collection of surfboards which
showcases some of the significant changes that occurred in the design of
boards over the last 100 years. In addition, you will find a
section devoted to the first Endless Summer movie that includes Bruce
Brown's original camera.
