The Women's  Basketball Hall of Fame is a state of the art museum dedicated to all levels of women’s basketball and is located in Knoxville, TN

It is a terrific museum to visit with the  basketball lovers in your home.   You will have the ability to view women's basketball history from it origins to modern times.  The  Women's Basketball Hall of Fame honors the past, celebrates the present and promotes the future of women's basketball .  Depending on how big a basketball fan you are a basic visit can take as little as two hours or you can spend an entire day inside the museum.

The first stop on the tour will take you to the State Farm Tip-Off theater where you will see Hoopful of Hope, a 15-minute emotional journey covering the history of women’s basketball.  This film shows some of the all-time greats from the sport including players, coaches, and teams from AAU, collegiate, and professional organizations.

In addition, you will see exhibits displaying hundreds of interesting artifacts, all with great stories behind them. You can see one of the original rule books from 1901, Teresa Edwards’ collections of medals, including her five Olympic medals, trophies, vintage uniforms, jerseys and more.  You will also see a replica of an old locker room—quite a contrast to the modern locker room.  Here’s your chance to sit in the locker room during pre-game or halftime and listen to some of the nation’s best coaches talk to their teams.

The basketball court is one of the highlights of the museum where there are three baskets, one representing the past, present and future. Each basket is a different height, so you can test your skills on all three levels.  Interactive exhibits enhance your enjoyment and allow you to try out a timed dribbling course, passing interactives and a vertical leap challenge.  You can also see what you would look like in a uniform from the 1920s, 1940s, 1960s or 1990s.

So remember to wear your basketball shoes when you visit this museum!
