Beautiful
beaches, warm tropical weather, and gorgeous water are what comes to
mine when we think of the Bahamas. There are however many other
attractions for tourists to see.
A great
interactive museum to visit is Pirates of Nassau, kids over five will
learn fascinating facts about real-life pirates.
Fragrance of the Bahamas is a make-your-own perfume factory where guests
can mix and match essences of flowers and fruits to create a signature
scent.
Be
sure to visit Nassau's Straw Market for a true experience, expect pushy
vendors, a variety of dazzling handmade merchandise and price haggling.
Bay
Street is the home for bargains on designer clothing and other luxury
items such as Waterford, Wedgwood Gucci and Fendi.
Families with kids from toddler age on up will enjoy touring Ardastra
Gardens and Zoo, with their world-famous Marching Flamingo show. Be
sure to also check out Fort Charlotte and the Queen's Staircase.
For
the adventurous type you can snorkel or scuba dive.
If
you are not staying on Paradise Island, home of the Atlantis Resort,
then you must plan on spending a day there to explore. This enormous
resort and casino on Paradise Island features aquariums, shark lagoons,
and pools with elaborate slides and waterfalls as well as a mile-long
Current ride through tropical jungles and caves. It is a kid's dream
but it is costly, a family visit here will set you back several-hundred
dollars in passes alone. Book a dolphin experience at
Dolphin Cay at Atlantis or
Dolphin Encounters at Blue
Lagoon Island
where they
offer interactive dolphin swims and sea lion encounters.
Age requirements vary depending on the program. For a detailed
look at Atlantis Resort check out All Star Activities
Family
Vacation Section.
