Beautiful
beaches, warm tropical weather, and gorgeous water are what comes to
mine when we think of Mexico. There are however many other
attractions for tourists to see.
Mexico's attractions are
incredibly diverse. You will find wonderful beaches, untouched natural
reserves, ancient ruins, rich culture, the second largest coral reef,
colonial architecture, as well as beautiful crafts and folk art.
Depending on where you vacation there will be plenty to see.
The
Yucatan and Pacific coast areas are famous for their magnificent beaches
and spectacular marine life. Acapulco, Cancun, Isla Cozumel,
Zihuatanejo and Isla Mujeres are resorts known for diving and beaches.
Acapulco, is famous for its cliff divers, whose stunning 12-story
plunges from rocky La Quebrada occur daily.
Vacationers in Guadalajara can board the Tequila Express for the
Hacienda San José del Refugio, where Herradura tequila is made.
Mexico City, is famous for its Templo Mayo, floating gardens, National
Museum of Anthropology, and the Aztec built canals.
The Zocalo which is
the historic center of Mexico City is
a must see.
Whale watching is a wonderful attraction from
January to March which is when the whale season starts in the Baja
Peninsula.
Los
Cabos has excellent beaches for all kinds of activities. Some of the
popular beaches which are good for kids are the Playa Palmilla and Playa
Medano.
In
addition, in Cancun you can enjoy Capitan Hook Pirates of the Caribbean
Dinner Show and Cruise where your ship cruises the nighttime waters, you
enjoy an elaborate buffet dinner, and then two ships stop alongside each
other to battle it out. Laguna Nichupté is a beautiful lagoon located
on the inland side of Cancun Island where you will find countless
shopping destinations, waterfront restaurants, golf courses, and water
sports.
The
ruins in cities like Tulum, Coba, Chichén Itzá are a definite must see
attraction for all in Cancun who love history, culture, and civilization.
Chichén Itzá, with its famous pyramids and temples, is
set in the jungle and is the Yucatán's most visited ancient Mayan site.
I recommend that you wear
sneakers and be careful the rocks are slippery.
The
rustic logging town of Creel is a popular tourist center for visitors to
the region and is the gateway to the Copper Canyon.
Dolphin Discovery, which has 4 locations throughout Mexico, allows you
to swim with the dolphins.
Riviera Maya, the new hot spot in Mexico, is home to the amazing
eco-archaeological
Xcaret Park. At this
park you can discover
natural wonders, immerse yourself in
underground
rivers, swim with dolphins (advanced reservations
are required), explore ancient Mayan
ruins, and see more than 80 varieties of tropical
orchids, a breeding aviary for wild birds, butterfly
pavilion, jaguar sanctuary coral reef aquarium and a
two hour show. This is an experience that you should
not miss.
