AGE REQUIREMENTS FOR SOCCER

AGE GROUP BOYS AND GIRLS 3-5

You can start your child in soccer as early as 3 years old. These leagues are normally referred to as PEE WEE or Petite Soccer. It is your child's first experience with soccer and the primary goal is fun. It is a non-competitive setting that will begin to teach your child soccer skills through numerous drills and games. Primarily, they work on co-ordination development, motor skills and confidence building. Your child will be taught such things as ball skills and control, shooting, and scoring in a team environment.

REGISTRATION

These programs are normally  6 - 8 weeks long.  The availability of this program depends on the league.  The sessions can be Fall, Winter, and/or Spring session.

When do I register?

You should look for registration for fall in May, Winter in August and Spring in November.  Forms for registration can be obtained on the organization's web site or at your local sporting good store.  Many organizations give you the option to register on line.

A birth certificate is required at this time to prove the age of your child.

Normally these programs are very popular and space is limited so don't delay registration or you may miss out!

COMMITMENT

The structure of the program depends on the league and at this level it is very flexible.  Your child may spend part of the session on drills and the last 10 minutes on a scrimmage or they may spend the entire session on drills and then have games set up on specific dates.

COST The registration fee for PEE WEE soccer is normally between 60.00 - 75.00 dollar.  Many organizations will give a discount for a family with multiple children.
